Our Hearts Go Out to Sandy Hook Elementary

DECEMBER 14, 2012 BY RUTH BUCZYNSKI, PHD &
 LORI NELSON, LMHC

How can this keep happening?

That was my immediate thought upon hearing the tragic news of this latest school shooting that took place in my hometown in CT.  Growing up in Bethel, bordering the Newtown line, I have many fond memories of our quaint and quiet town.

The unthinkable has happened again, this time at an elementary school in Sandy Hook, CT – 27 dead, 20 of them children.

The details, I’m sure, will keep trickling out for weeks to come.
But the heartbreak is here and now, and the wounds of such trauma run incredibly deep for the families whose lives have just changed
irrevocably.

And even though in our work as practitioners we’re seeing (and trying to help heal) the scars of trauma every day, tragedies like these can wound our spirits and grieve our hearts as well . . . . .. But we also hope that it will strengthen our resolve – all of us – to keep reaching out with compassion and healing and belief in the basic good of the human spirit.

Sandy Hook Elementary, our hearts go out to you and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Well said my dear friend and counselor....I have hugged my grandchildren until they look at me and say what's wrong grandpa?
How can I possibly tell them on their own terms what this is all about...? I live in a town that is much like Newtown...it could never happen here...now I am not so sure....
A troubled soul who had no other way to speak out or be heard has chosen the way of evil to make sure he is heard for all eternity...let us reach out to these persons who are not a perfect clone of our society...who knows...you meet a bum on the street or a less fortunate homeless person....remember it could be Jesus...
whatsoever you do for the least of my brethren you do for me....
no one was listening to this poor creature...and he needed to be heard....
God hold those preciouse angels in his hands and comfort their families and make sure when it is our turn to join them they know how much we love them for as Obama said..."they are all OUR children"....
Thank you
